Server timeout for my blog and all dashboard/edit functions

I’ve searched around and unfortunately this seems to be my problem alone, not a wider one. For the past 2-3 days I have not been able to access my blog, my dashboard, the quick “new post” function — nothing whose WordPress URL begins with the name of the blog. I always get a Firefox error message in my browser to the effect that the server timed out, you can try again, maybe the site is down, etc.
The last time I tried to update the blog with a new post, which I didn’t finish but saved as a draft, it had some kind of a problem, but the whole reason I was just saving as a draft was I got called away and could neither finish nor check the problem to see what was wrong. And since then I’ve had this trouble. (I did successfully add a new post the day before, i.e. 3-4 days ago, so it was working recently.)
I can access the main WordPress pages, the page that appears for me right after I log in, other people’s WP blogs, but nothing for my own. Can anyone suggest what to do to solve this?

Actually, an update: I was mistaken — I thought I could access other WP blogs because one loaded on my iPad on Flipbook, but when I try to view in Firefox on my laptop, just the same as trying to edit or view my own blog: server timeout. But no server timeout problem when viewing WP support or forum pages, these types of pages.
What could be the problem, and how to fix it??

Timeouts, today, on IE8 when saving edits.
Intermittent timeouts on FF4 when saving edits.
Links won’t activate in Chrome or FF4 unless added in html coding.
So generally a bit broken today across three browsers.
