Session gets stuck on the "Beep beep boop" screen

    When I try to edit or create a new post my session gets stuck on the “Beep beep boop” screen. I’ve tried it in Opera and Firefox repeatedly on different Windows machines, but it’s still not working, so I always have to get to it through my dashboard. What’s the deal? Other people seem to have complained about this as well. It’s really annoying.

    Hi,

    Can you try adding a new blog post from the Dashboard via Posts > All Posts > Add New?

    Let me know if that works!

    Yes, that’s the workaround I’ve been using, but why are there buttons/menus on the site for adding/editing posts that aren’t working? That just doesn’t make any sense whatsoever.

    There are a lot of updates being made to the new editor (the one where you are seeing the beep beep boop screen) which makes it somewhat unstable at the moment. The user experience for that editor also seems to vary dramatically user to user. If you wait on the beep beep boop screen or refresh, you should get to the actual editor screen. If you don’t, or it takes an unreasonable amount of time, you can report that to the developers by leaving a comment here including your computer, operating system and browser (including version number) as information about when it works and when it doesn’t is useful to them.

    If you’d rather not mess with it, you are better off following Honey’s advice and sticking with the Dashboard editor until the kinks get worked out of the other system.

    “Relatively unstable”? Seriously? It’s been like this for weeks, and I’ve tried it on the latest versions of Mac and Windows, using multiple different browsers. This has been a serious blow to WordPress’s credibility for me and many others, and I’m seriously thinking about moving to a different site if it’s not resolved soon.

    Yup, and it’s worth noting that the developer pronounced the problem as largely fixed and closed that thread, and weeks later people are still complaining about it.

    The problems, particularly relating to the autosave not working and RSS feed issues, have been known and reported for at least a year. They have not been fixed.

    I’m happy to help you out with this. It looks like you’re using an extremely outdated version of Opera (v12). Can you please update your browser or try another one like Chrome?

    You say that you’ve also tried using Firefox. Can you tell me what version of Firefox you’re using?

    I tried it yet again just now on my Windows 7 machine using IE11 and FF31. I’ve tried it on a Windows 8 machine with equally current browsers and equal lack of success.

    Thanks for testing that out. We did have reports of this happening, but only in Internet Explorer 9. We pushed a fix shortly after your last post here last night. Could you clear your cache and cookies and try it again?

    I’m having issues editing all of my drafted posts.

    I’m using an older MAC computer (this has never been an issue before) and I’ve attempted to open the drafts on both of the most up to date versions of Chrome & Firefox. When I hit “edit” draft, it just gets stuck on the “beep beep boop” screen.

    Can you tell me exactly what browser version you’re using? Unfortunately, we make updates to our code every day and we can’t continue to support older browser versions indefinitely.

    Wow, it finally worked. Thanks for looking into this, but the whole experience has seriously dented my interest in WordPress and I’ve looked into other options for the future. Thanks, though.

    Hi, I am having the same issue but the problem is definitely with my account and not with my browser or computer. I say this because not only have I tried on multiple devices and with multiple browsers, but because I asked my co-blogger to log in to my account and try to post something new and she couldn’t, but then she logged back into her account and was able to get to the new post page just fine. What could be causing that?
