  • Hi @lizzyagatha,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts! I completely understand how frustrating it can be to adjust to changes, especially when you’re used to a certain workflow.

As of now, there isn’t a way to permanently set the Classic Editor by default, and it’s worth noting that it’s likely to be phased out entirely in the future.

To continue using something similar to the Classic Editor, I recommend exploring the Classic Block within the block editor. You can find more information about it here: Classic Block Guide. For detailed instructions on how to access the Classic Editor, please check this guide: Classic Editor Guide.

If you’d like to dive deeper into the new editor, we also have comprehensive documentation that might be helpful: WordPress Editor Support. Additionally, this blog post explains more about the transition from the Classic Editor: TheClassic Editing Experience.

That said, I’d be happy to assist with any specific challenges you’re facing with the new editor or share tips to make the transition smoother.

Please feel free to let me know how I can help further! 😊

If classic editor is removed or I have to pay more than the personal plan, I won’t be able to use my site anymore.

I’ve already almost stopped using it since the block editor crap began a few years ago, as it wasted so much of my time and limited energy.

I used to have many thousands of page views a month, but that has dropped to less than 2000 views a month (posting almost nothing new in 4 years)

Why is wp doing this to those of us who use the classic editor?

Why can’t you just keep things simple?

You can permanently switch to the Classic Editor in WordPress by installing the Classic Editor plugin. After activation, go to Settings > Writing in your WordPress dashboard, where you’ll find an option to set the Classic Editor as the default editor. This will completely disable the block editor (Gutenberg), so you won’t have to switch it manually every time.

Additionally, you can install the Disable Gutenberg plugin, which provides more control over removing the block editor from specific post types or user roles. I faced a similar issue while managing my website, https://supremesecurityservices.ca/, and switching to the Classic Editor made content management much smoother.

As for feedback reaching WordPress management, you can share your concerns on the WordPress support forums or provide feedback directly on their GitHub page. Many users have raised similar concerns, so you’re definitely not alone! Hope this helps!

Almost every CMS nowadays uses an editor similar to our Block Editor instead of a ‘classic’ editor. Our Block Editor really isn’t difficult at all compared to other visual editors.

I would advice you to make a new free site where you can take some time to learn using our Block Editor. After a short time you will find out our Block Editor isn’t difficult at all and offers much more possibilities compared to the Classic editor.
