Set Different Display Name for Different Blogs
-
How can I set an appropriate “Public Display Name” when I have signed up for two or more blogs?
For example, on a personal blog I may want posts to say “Added by Brian Lewis” but on another, instead of my real name I want to display “The Free Advice Guy.”
Is there any way to set the display name for different blogs without setting up totally separate user accounts for each one?

Unfortunately, it’s only possible to have one display name at this time. Blogs connected to one account/username will show the same username/display name.
To change the name that shows up on each blog, you would need to set up two separate accounts. If you decide that is a better option for you, please let us know and we can help you get that set up.

I like to be able to manage all my blogs with a single login, so here is the workaround I used: I signed up for a WordPress login only (without creating a blog) and invited that new user to the blog where I want to use my real name instead of my usual pseudonym.
I still log in with my regular “multiple blog admin” where I can see all my blogs, but on the one blog where I wanted to do things differently, I can now set the “author” of the post to be the correct name.
I realize that this may not work for everyone, since it required that I had an alternate e-mail address available (which I did have). But it works for me. And a side benefit is that I can have an alternate Gravatar when posting as the other user, too.
