Set menu to be “collapsed” on mobile, using Twenty Twenty Three theme?

Looking to change to the Twenty Twenty Three theme for a website I’m working on and it seems like there is no way to have the menu default to “collapsed” on mobile, like my old theme does. Anyone know how to do this? Also, I’m working on this for a non-profit and they don’t have a business plan so I’d prefer to try to figure out how to do it without plug ins. If it does require plug ins, I would like to know that because maybe I can persuade them to upgrade. Finally, if this can’t be done using the Twenty Twenty Three theme, does anyone have a recommendation for a FSE theme that does support this?

To visualize what I mean, here is what my current theme looks like on mobile:

Same problem here. Switching SUBMENUS to Open on click and Show arrow have no effect whatsoever.

@jdruding did you ever find a solution to this ? I’m about to give up on using TT3 because of this. I’m having a hard time understanding how this new FSE system works and would also gladly take some recommendation for plugins/themes that can solve this problem, if no other solution exists.

No, I never found one. I don’t believe there is a solution without some sort of customization. I wound up just simplifying my menu to fewer levels just for the sake of mobile.

Hi there, at this time, there is not an option to have the submenu on mobile show as collapsed. On mobile, they will show as indented below the top menu item.

There are more options available via menu/navigation plugins when on the Business or eCommerce plans, but if and when looking, make sure and check to see if they work with the WordPress Block/Site Editor.
