Hi there,
On sites hosted with the basic plan at WordPress.com, you cannot run an e-commerce site. You can sell goods created and produced solely by you, with the use of a PayPal button.
If you do want to have a fully functioning webstore hosted at WordPress.com, you will need to upgrade to Business. There is a two-week free trial, if you’d like to give it a test run before making any decisions. To do this, click on Store in your site’s Dashboard. Then click Try Now in the Business Upgrade box.
You can also choose to have a self-hosted WordPress.org site that you would run another server. If you’re not familiar with the difference between hosting here at WordPress.com and self-hosting, I think this could help:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/Both choices will give you the functionality you need, it all depends how much time and elbow grease you want to put into the building and maintenance of your site. Both are good options.
Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks much!
