Set-up Period

    I am looking to develop my new site, how long does the free period allow for set-up? Or is it a matter of charges commence when the site is live? As this is a part time project I will need 2-3 months before site is released live from time of commencement. Please advise.

    The free plan doesn’t have an expiration date. If you do not purchase an upgrade, your site will just keep on the free plan.
    Bear in mind, though, that not all functionalities are available on the free plan:

    if I mat break this down specifically to these questions:
    – So if I understand correctly then, I can set-up my site and not be charged however there will inevitably be functionality I wont be able to complete till I upgrade to the Premium package (as that the package I will likely chose) to complete my site. Then Ill be charged the monthly fees whether my site is live or not yet complete?

    – I don’t need to subscribe to a yearly contract, for the beginning I can chose the premium fee monthly until I am comfortable for a 12 month period?

    – Is there such thing as a test environment while I am building my site before it is released live into a public domain?

    We do not have monthly billing at this time, but you do have 30 days to refund your purchase if after the first month you prefer not to proceed. You can see our full refund policy here.

    It is possible to set your site to be “private” so that only you can access it via your login. You are also welcome to set up your site on the WordPress.com address we assign to your site when you first create it, and only connect the public domain to it when you are ready to launch to the public.
