How to get a feature image on the main/home page of Untitled theme. The instructions you provide don’t work for me.

    I’ve tried this:
To set up Untitled’s Front Page Slider:

    Navigate to Settings → Reading.
Scroll down to the section labeled “Featured Content”.
Enter the name of a tag.
Click the blue “Save Changes” button at the bottom.
Create a post with a featured image that’s at least 1024px wide.
Note: The featured image will look best at these dimensions: 1440px wide, 400px tall.
Give the post the tag you declared under Settings → Reading → Featured Content.

But it’s just not working for me. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I followed this procedure to create the featured image for my two “posts”. And they work fine.

But there is no feature image on home/front page.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • I’m sure we can figure this out. First, two questions:

Have you applied the correct tag to your post? And then have you marked the image as “featured”?

Thanks. 2) Yes, image is definitely marked as “featured.” 1) What is the “correct” tag for the post? The directions state “Enter the name of a tag.” I’ve entered a few tags and then created a post, just as directions state. All is fine for the individual posts. But cannot make home/front page work. Is there a particular tag I should use to link to home/front page?

  • You need to tag the individual post with the tag you have set using the instructions you pasted in. You do not have any tags on your posts. For example, here is the tags area from the “front page slider” post:

Let me know if this is still not making sense.

Thanks! Definite progress. So I ‘tagged’ Front Page Slider, and the image appeared on the front page. So you provided the missing piece to solve my problem. Thank you!

Is there a better tutorial of how to use tags in this instance? I honestly don’t find http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/tags/ helpful in this situation. And I’m not sure how I would have figured this out on my own.

    Again, many thanks!

  • This is a kind of odd use of tags, I agree. What I would do is to make up an oddball tag that you would not use for anything else ever. fpage123 or something. That way you aren’t likely to get regular tag usage and this tag usage confused.
