Setting 1and1 MX servers on WordPress (not a google apps question)
-
Hi everyone,
I’ve mapped a wordpress.com blog to a domain hosted on 1and1.com. I need to set custom MX servers on wordpress, so that the webmail associated with the domain will work.
According to 1and1 the MX servers are:
imap.1and1.com
pop.1and1.com
smtp.1and1.comHowever, I don’t know what prefix to add. It should be MX __, with a number in the blank (10, 20, etc.). Please tell me someone has done this before – how do I set these up?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi. Does this help?

No, I did see that thread and tried that configuration. The result was that email did not go through. I think that person was using the wrong servers. They used:
00.1and1.com.
01.1and1.com.…but these are not the servers 1and1 says it uses. 1and1 says it uses:
imap.1and1.com
pop.1and1.com
smtp.1and1.comSo I need to know what MX ## to put in front of those.

UPDATE:
I seem to have found a combination that works. For anyone else who has this problem, try setting your MX servers to:
MX 10 00.1and1.com.
MX 20 01.1and1.com.
MX 20 smtp.1and1.com.It seems that both incoming and outgoing mail now works. I’ll follow up here if there are any further problems.

*sigh*
Nope, still not working. It appears outgoing mail works with that setup but not incoming mail.
Help?

Bumping this…
Seriously, can anyone help? Surely someone has set up 1and1 webmail with WP before? -
If we Volunteers could help then we would but we can’t. The thread is flagged for Staff attention. Please be patient waiting for Staff to respond.

Those records seem correct, but I recommend double-checking with 1and1’s support crew.
Unfortunately, we can’t provide support for all email configurations, so you may need to setup email through Google Apps for Domains instead: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/google-apps-email/
