setting a page as home page

  Hi.. searched FAQ’s and forum and found it odd that I didn’t see an answer to this question that I’m sure has come up before but…
  How can I set up a page as ‘home’ rather than the category. I tried naming the page ‘home’ but that didn’t do the trick…
  I know there’s a plug-in for this but, can I install plugins with wordpress.com?

  Dashboard -> Options -> Reading -> Select your two options for the front page. Do note that these Pages need to be created ahead of time. For the “Show the latest posts on this page” selection, just create a blank Page.
