setting a page to be the HOME page
-
2 questions:
a: the first item i created was a Page (http://tvhs72.wordpress.com/twin-valley-high-school-reunion-class-of-1972/) called Twin Valley High School Reunion – Class of 1972. How can i make that my Home page which people will see when they goto tvhs72.wordpress.com? I’m setting up my wife’s highschool reunion.b: when i take the “Home” link from the menu bar of the above page, it is not found because i know i deleted it a few days ago. However, on the page that displays that error message, how do i get rid of that menu on the right (right-most column)? In Screen Options, i have it set to 1 Column but get 2. I’ve been able to use this 1-col on other pages and it worked there.
Thanks.
Allen

You can learn how to set a static page as your front page here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/front-page/Once you do that, the Home page link should link to that page, and the 2nd column will disappear.

nice shooting! Your tip helped. Initially, on the Menu bar of the page, i had a Home item and a Twin Valley High School Reunion item which had 2 sub-items under it (for lack of better term).
Now, the Home item displays the static page i want but now the 2 Twin Valley High School sub-items appear as parent items which is no biggie but i’d like to have a 2nd parent item on menu bar called Photos under which the 2 Twin Valley High School pages would be sub-items.
Sorry for longwinded and i do appreciate your quick reply.

Hi Al,
You can change the order of pages in your site’s navigation bar by creating a custom menu:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/You can create a new page called Photos and then add those two pages as sub-menus, if you’d like.

Evarlese,
Thanks for your quick reply! I created a page called Photos and added 2 other existing pages to it using Appearance -> Menu but when i preview the page, the Photo page does not appear as an element on the menu bar but the 2 subpages appear as individual top-level menu options. Hope i explained this correctly.

Macmanx,Evarlese, and yoavf,
Thanks for all of your advice! It all worked and it now looks the way i want it to with sub-menus. I was eventually able to figure out some stuff myself and work with the # placeholder. Check it out now: tvhs72.wordpress.comI do appreciate your assistance. You all provide excellent customer support.
Way cool!
Al
