Setting a quota for total WordPress installation size
-
Hello,
I was wondering if someone could help me with this..
Is there a way to set a maximum disk space quota for an individual WordPress website?
I’ve made some websites for some clients, but I want to prevent them from uploading an unlimited amount of files (since disk space is not free nor unlimited on my SiteGround hosting account). Hope someone can help me out with this.Kind regards from the Netherlands,

Hello there,
Many thanks for reaching out.
Generally speaking, this would be down to the hosting environment the site is situated on.
What is the URL of the website you require assistance with?
You may need to speak to your hosting provider about these sorts of limitations.
I hope this helps.

Hi there,
Thanks for your response.
I tried contacting SiteGround, my host, but unfortunately they weren’t able to help me out since such a feature is not available on their platform and would require their developers to create it as an entire new feature on a global scale. As a result, I’m forced to find a solution elsewhere.
I learned that setting up a WordPress multisite network enables a feature called “site upload space”, where one can set a limit to the total size of files uploaded to a website. This could be a good alternative, but I’m wondering if there’s a way to implement this feature without switching to a multisite installation. -
Hello there,
As you’re referring to self-hosted WordPress, you’re best bet is to field these questions in the WordPress.org forums here: https://wordpress.org/search/multisite
The main reason is because WordPress.com is separate to that of self-hosted WordPress.com.
You may also find similar questions with answers as to how best to approach this issue.
I hope this helps.
