Setting different pictures for desktop and mobile verions

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi I would like to know if there is a way to tell wordpress to load different pictures depending on the device used to visit my site, the problem is that I don’t like how my pictures get cropped on the mobile version
p.s. I’m new to wordpress and I don’t have programming knowledge, moreover I cannot install plugins since I’m using a free version of wordpress
    Thanks in advance

  • Hi there!

The way your featured images or header images work on your theme is to adjust properly to all screen/window widths from the desktop all the way down to phones. It’s called responsive layout, and it’s developed to make images work appropriately on every screen.
So there isn’t really any way to get over it, although you might reconsider what types of images you use so that the cropping won’t affect them as much. Portraits or texts, for example, are usually not the best idea to upload as a header or featured image.

You can also activate a mobile theme, instead. Here’s more information about it:

    Thanks
