Setting featured images on Portfolio Projects

  I would like to set featured images on Portfolio Projects, but the option is not available when editing a project.

  The featured image box is there when I’m editing posts and pages, but not on portfolio projects. I have looked in Screen Options for the checkbox to make this option show up, but the checkbox is not there either.

  Any help is greatly appreciated.
