setting poster image for clip
-
I want to designate an image to display in the player before a clip plays. I’ve created jpgs, uploaded them to the library, and then designated a featured image for each clip. However, these featured images don’t display when the clip is posted. Can’t I use my own images instead of having to play a clip and grab an image from it?

Hi there,
I believe you’re referring to the videos you have uploaded to your Media Library. Is that correct? If so, the initial opening thumbnail must be selected from the actual video (i.e. you can’t specify an image to be the thumbnail that isn’t actually included in the video). Does that make sense?

Thanks. I appreciate the info. Looks like this is another drawback of VideoPress. Video players I’ve used in the past allow me to import a designated image to use as an opening thumbnail. In this case, I want to use a jpg image as a thumbnail, or splash screen, for a clip on my home page that I’m hosting on VP. In order to do that now, it looks like I have to re-edit the clip to include the splash screen. Not the kind of functionality I was expecting. I also don’t like the fact that the VP name bug appears after a clip finishes playing. Hope to find another option for a player by the time my first year with VP ends. While I can see the attraction for some to VP, it’s just not professional enough for me. Thanks again for your response.
