Setting primary domain name to URL leads to redirect loop

I made a mistake and opted for self-hosting with Bluehost, not realizing it didn’t support WordAds.

I purchased a domain mapping and set the nameservers to n1.wordpress.com on my bluehost account and that seemed to restore everything back to normal for a few hours.

However, I soon discovered the site became inaccessible unless I switched the primary URL back to 3dnpc.wordpress.com.

How can I restore things back to how they were?

Okay I should rephrase the topic, the url 3DNPC.com does not seem to be linked in anyway to 3DNPC.wordpress.com, but instead goes to bluehost

I’m trying to basically just have 3dnpc.com as the url like before.

  • http://3dnpc.com/ appears to be working properly. Here’s what I see at the moment: https://cloudup.com/c3CaKoNRVr2

When a domain is registered or altered, there is a process called propagation, where information about the domain name is passed to internet service providers all over the world. This process can take up to 72 hours (though usually much less). During that time, you may also receive a warning message in your browser about “redirect errors”. Unfortunately, we have no control over this as it all depends on how often your internet service provider updates their records. Please rest assured that everything is proceeding normally with your domain.

You can continue to update your site while your custom domain propagates, by going directly to your Dashboard, here:

    https://3dnpc.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

If you still have trouble viewing the site after 72 hours has passed, please try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies:

If that doesn’t work, try clearing your local DNS cache:

yeah it works now. sorry for wasting your time, i thought changing the topic to resolved would make it so you didn’t have to look at this.

  • Ah, it definitely did, but I was directly browsing for any threads which mentioned “WordAds”. Sorry for not noticing, but glad it’s fixed for you now! :)

Dude, I love WordAds. I actually click on them and watch the videos because the commercials are awesome.

But it’s incredibly conflicting because I really need to migrate the site to make use of all the plugins WordPress.org has, and the userbase is ultimately more important than profits.

Still, it would be awesome if you allowed us to have them on WordPress.org blogs. I mean, wouldn’t it mean more money for everyone?

  • It certainly would! :)

Fortunately, we are currently working on a plugin for WordPress.org sites, which we’ll announce at http://wordads.co/blog/ when ready.
