Setting the date manually
-
I’m moving my blog over to wordpress.com (there is no import tool I can use, as I originally just wrote the HTML, etc. myself). I would like to maintain the original dates of my posts, but I don’t see a way to manually edit the date.
To test a roundabout method, I made a sample post on wordpress.com, exported the XML, changed the date (in both the link and publish date fields), and then imported it, but that didn’t work.
So, even if it’s tedious, is there any way to set the date on my posts? Thanks.

When you write a Post, please look for the Post Timestamp tab along the right hand side of the page. You can edit the time and date there. Just make sure that you mark off the checkbox.
Why there’s a checkbox, I have no idea. But it’s there.
Hope this helps,

Haha, I just saw that and came here to update my comment, but I see that you’ve already replied. Thanks.
I feel dumb. :)

Not a problem. It’s come up before when folks don’t understand what ‘timestamp’ means. Not a biggie. :)

I came across this thread because I have much the same issue as compilererror, I think; I am moving my blog from another site to WordPress. I’ve tried change the timestamp but although it says in the listing of posts that the post was created on the date that I changed it to (ie I changed the timestamp to 1/18/06 and now the listing of posts says 1/18) on the actual blog it still says 2/23. I’m not sure if I’m explaining this well, but I’ve tried fixing the timestamp several times and it’s just not doing anything. I have had the checkbox checked to no avail.
