Setting up a blog for a domain I already own

    Can I set up the blog first before, keep the hosting site I already have and when the blog is ready then point the servers to wordpress?

    I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

    Absolutely! You’re welcome to create your new site with us before pointing the domain here. That way your current site can stay “live” until your new one is ready.

    I do recommend getting a plan earlier on if you’ll need it, since they have other features you might find useful, including direct support:
    https://wordpress.com/plans

    Then just avoid using the domain options until you’re ready, and then you can connect or transfer the domain.
