Setting up a front page for website instead of blog

Hi
have been following the guide notes to set up a webpage so I have a website with the Blog as a part of it, but with other stuff too!! went throught the Add New stuff, called the new pages Website and Blog and then got to the Settings – Reading – A static page bit BUT the only page that comes up at that point is called About – and is part of the blog stuff. The other new pages IU creating are not showing. Have I missed a point where I save them somewhere or what.
All I know is when I go back to my web address I return (as always) to the front page of the blog!
Advice please.

Hi James,
When setting a different front page for a blog, you’ll need to create the page that you’d like to use first in the Pages->Add New page on your WordPress.com site’s dashboard.
At the same time, I suggest making a Blog page there (no content needed).
Once you’ve made it and saved it, you can go to Settings->Reading to change the Front Page to that and change the Posts page to the second “Blog” page that you made.

thanks for the info but that is exactly what I did! I followed the instructions on the site, made a new page for the Website AND another new page for the blog. BUT although I went through the process twice – the only option I get when I go to get the new static pages I have set up is a page called About. No other pages show.
So I still don’t know what to do.

please disregard last email – I have made it work!! I didn’t realise (amateur that I am ) that I needed to “Publish” these new front pages – so I now have the new website page and the blog page. With nothing in them of course, so now I have to figure out how to actually make them work!! Thanks again.
