Setting up a new webpage
-
I have purchased a new domain through Godaddy.com, and would like to start designing the new page. However, it’s been a few years since I last set up a new business and I’d like help getting started. When I try to go to the new domain through wordpress I receive a message saying I can’t transfer the page for 60 days, or that I need to purchase a plan (which is through Godaddy – as previously mentioned). Please help.
Thanks,

Hi there,
If you just bought the domain from GoDaddy you won’t be able to transfer it for at least 60 days, no. That is a rule that applies to all domains, no matter where you buy them.
If you want to use that domain with a WordPress.com site you will need a paid WordPress.com plan. Then you can connect the domain to us using our domain mapping upgrade included in all plans.

Once the domain has been registered for at least 60 days, you can then transfer it to us if you prefer at no additional cost.

hi,
To add on, as part of a domain transfer the domain will be renewed for an additional year, so you will not lose any of the time of the domain registration for which you’ve already paid.
