Setting up a page for blog posts in a Twenty Ten site

I’m trying to set up a page for blog posts in a Twenty Ten site, but when I select a posts page in Settings/Reading (ie the blank page I’ve called ‘Blog’) I get an automatic feed of old posts. How do I start a fresh page that’ll hosts my new posts, with comments? Thanks!

Among the most common misconceptions is that bloggers fail to understand is
(1) there is only one page we can post to in any blog and
(2) the static pages http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/ they create do not automatically update.Only the dynamic pages like Categories, Tags and Archives created by the software when we publish a post we that we have assigned Categories and Tags too will update automatically update with posts.
By default the front page of the blog is the post that displays all posts in your blog. Though there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts (not pages) http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/ and we cannot post to more than that one page, we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page.
We organize posts by assigning categories to them. You can create a custom menu and add the dynamic categories pages into the custom menu.

The front page of the blog by default will display your posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top. If you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page called for example “Welcome” for your site and a “Blog” page for posts.
To do that create two pages > http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/ After you do that you go to > Settings > Reading and make the designation change and click “save changes”.

Thanks for your reply! Yes, I understand the difference, and had set up a static front page, and separate page for posts. However, I am starting a new blog on my site and do not want to feed in old posts, which it is doing. How do I start a fresh page that’ll hosts my new posts, without feeding in old posts? Thanks!

Each blog is a website. The answer to your question is “you can’t” start a new blog at the same URL with all the content in it already and do what you want to do.

I wonder if I’m phrasing it incorrectly (if so, my apologies). There’s no way to start a page to post to, without it displaying your old posts? I feel like I’ve seen WordPressers sites that have an active blog on one page, and other pages with posts not featured in their blog, but I might be wrong. Thanks for helping me, I do appreciate it.
