Setting Up a Registration and Login Page for New Site's Users

    I want to set up an ‘initial’ registration page, and then login page for users of my site to have in order for people to identify themselves via username, and for them to have some form of identification and profile for things such as polling. How do I go about doing that? I saw a few tutorials mentioning that it might be as simple as clicking on some ‘membership section’ checkbox under the general settings tab for the website, but their is nothing there that has anything to do with that. I also looked into a few addons but had trouble installing or using them. Thank you for your help.

    It’s not p[ossible to set up a membership by registration site where you hand out username accounts and passwords here at wordpress.COM.

    For that kind of site, you need to hire a web host and set up a wordpress.ORG software install.
