You cannot do that on a WordPress.COM hosted blog. Our blogs cannot be used to drive traffic to third party sites and no blogger initiated advertising is allowed on WordPress.com blogs.
Here’s what gets a blog suspended:

http://en.wordpress.com/tos/No blogger initiated advertising is allowed on WordPress.com blogs. The only blogs that can be equipped for ecommerce are those with the $299. per year business upgrade. http://en.support.wordpress.com/ecommerce/
The only advertising program at WordPress.com is called WordAds and it’s for blogs on their own domains.

There are no restrictions if you setup a self-hosted WordPress.org blog instead of a WordPress.com blog, but there are some added responsibilities. Please see this guide to learn about the differences.

Just to be clear. If I upgrade to the business class website with my own domain then I could introduce third party advertising and affiliate marketing to the blog…
