Hey there!
WordPress.com does require a valid postal code to purchase a plan. I’ve found an earlier thread where one of or Happiness Engineers @kokkieh posted this:
Our system is expecting a postal code similar to the UK system – three characters, a space, followed by another three characters. There’s no way just the number 8 would be accepted by our system.
You should be able to find the correct code for your address here:Please try to to find a working code with that site and let us know if that works for you!

Hi there,
I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble! I can see that this post is tagged for our Happiness Engineers to take a closer look.
In the meantime, maybe I can help! Can you walk me through the exact steps you are taking? Are you trying to move to a paid membership? Which one? Can you please include a screenshot of the error are seeing so that I can take a closer look?
Thank you for your help and patience!

Hi everyone. Thanks for the help. I was able to sort it out using the Eircode finder. Thanks for the tip and the prompt response.

Hi diarmuidfitzgerald,
I’m pleased to hear you’ve got this sorted now. Your plan includes email and Live Chat support which you can access from this page:

Thanks!

Glad you got this sorted, Diarmuid!
I’m from Ireland as well and the government introduced postcodes a few years ago… although they are seldom used. The only time I use mine is when filling in online forms that demand a postcode… like this one :)
