setting up a wordpress site

I have a web host and a domain name. I purchased a package from the host with WordPress. But I can’t make any progress on the site

Even the beginners tutorials on YouTube are too complicated for me. I think it is because I have a host. Should I access WordPress through the host or can I go in directly to WordPress. But when I try to build my site I cannot access Templates. It only gives me one I chose on my first visit. Is there technical information I should enter in cPanel or somewhere else?

Your description of your hosting environment indicates that you are using the WordPress.org version of WordPress, not the version hosted here at WordPress.com.

Check with your host or visit their website to see if they have a basic support section on setting up and using WordPress.

In addition there is a treasure trove of documentation and a forum over at WordPress.org that will help you become familiar with how it all works.

WordPress.org support forums: (you will have to sign up for those forums because they are a separate entity from WordPress.com.)
