setting up a wordpress site

Hi there Im just helping a client set up a wordpress sit as I have one however I didnt have to pay for mine (pretty sure) and when adding his domain its say $5 a month?

On WordPress.com you can create a free site and you can also purchase a paid subscription for additional options like a custom domain, for example. I can’t think of anything that would cost you $5 a month though as all our plans are paid either yearly or biyearly.
That said and to clear up any further confusion, there are is WordPress.com and WordPress.org and they are two different entities.
We, WordPress.com are a cloud-based platform where we manage WordPress sites whereas WordPress.org is a stand-alone software that you can download for free and self-host with any other hosting.
