i just signed up with host gator yesterday. im trying to set up a blog but there seem to be many steps. i already created my domain name. whats the next step.

What exactly did you sign up for with HostGator? Just a domain or also a site? If so then you need to reach out to HostGator for assistance in setting up a site there.
You’re currently posting into the support forum for sites hosted at WordPress.com. You could create a site here rather than at HostGator if you wished but you’d need to purchase a Personal plan or higher here to map your new domain to a WordPress.com site.
