Setting up free site for domain I own

    I’m being stupid (never done this before). My daughter and I are trying to learn how to create a (pirate themed!) website for fun. We think we’ve purchased a domain name, and think we are set up for free hosting via Infinityfree.
    I thought we then needed some kind of tool to ‘create’ the content (formatting etc)…for which I was intending on using wordpress free.
    But I cant see how to sign up for free and start creating the site?
    Sorry for the stupid question!

    To clear up any further confusion, there is WordPress.com and WordPress.org and they are two different entities.

    We, WordPress.com are a cloud-based platform where we manage WordPress sites, whereas WordPress.org is a stand-alone software that you can download and self-host with any other hosting.

    You can find more details about WordPress.com and WordPress.org on this support page:

    https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/

    If you have purchased hosting elsewhere, you do not need to create your site on WordPress.com – you will want to download the WordPress software from WordPress.org instead.
