Setting up gmail so that emails are sent "from" my wordpress email address?
-
I am trying to set up my wordpress email address for “Send emails as…”. I am not sure what to put for the SMTP server name. Also, I keep getting a message that my email provider is responding too slowly. I’m also confused about whether I can do this without paying for some additional service. I just want to be able to send email from my gmail account and have the recipient see it coming from my wordpress email. Can you help?

Hi Jennifer,
To enable that feature with GMail, you’ll actually need to setup a Google Apps account which is a paid subscription from Google.

Right now your emails should correctly forward to GMail as you’ve setup in your “My Domains” settings, but a free GMail account doesn’t support the ability to reply as an alias.
Once you setup the Google Apps account, you’ll enter in the Google Apps server information so you can reply using your the GMail account you’ve already setup.
Best,

Thanks, Alex. That’s too bad, I didn’t realize I was going to have to spend more money. Sigh. Oh, well.

Hi Jennifer,
Zoho offers email service for free up to 3 email addresses:

I really like GMail too, so it’s hard to switch to something else when you’re used to all its functionality. But this if a free option if its a feature you’d really like.
Best,
-Alex G.
