Setting up Goran website
-
https://personallifecoachcoza.wordpress.com/.
I have 3 problems:
My tagline does not show up anywhere.
See that double header image? Should not be there. should be a blue header with my tree of life in top left corner.
My testimonials have disappeared even though I did Save and Publish. Instead I get Blog under testimonials!
If you have any solutions for me I would be so grateful.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there – I’m glad to help and will reply to your questions separately.
My tagline does not show up anywhere.
Goran doesn’t display the tagline, by design. To display it, you’d need some custom CSS – this is the basic variation but you may need some tweaks, which we could help you with:
.site-description { display: inherit; color: #fff; }Custom CSS is available with the Premium or Business plans.

See that double header image? Should not be there. should be a blue header with my tree of life in top left corner.
Looks like you’ve uploaded the same image as both a logo (under the Customizer’s Site Identity panel) and as a header.
You can remove the header in your Customizer‘s Header panel.
Click “Hide image” and then click the Save button at the top.
-
My testimonials have disappeared even though I did Save and Publish. Instead I get Blog under testimonials!
It looks like what you’ve created so far is a static page with your testimonials written on it. I can see that page here:
https://personallifecoachcoza.wordpress.com/about/testimonials/
What’s being linked off your Testimonials menu is not this page, but the Blog page. Try going into your menu-management area and removing the existing Testimonials page, and re-adding it. Let me know if that works.

Hi Kathryn, thanks for the help.
I have managed to fix the header problem on some of the pages, but not on About and Contact. The way you suggested does not work here.
I followed your steps and got the Testimonials page back (although it will not move to above Blog as I have prompted it to do.)
But now the same thing has happened to Meet Clair. Why? What is going on here?
Thank you -
I have managed to fix the header problem on some of the pages, but not on About and Contact. The way you suggested does not work here.
Looks like you have featured images set on About and Contact, so you’ll need to remove those as well. In Goran, if there is a featured image set on a page, it’s displayed in the header area.
I’ll look at your other issues next.

re: your menu – could you let me know which menu editor you’re using?
a) Customizer – https://cloudup.com/cpZgmYfrKN1
b) Main dashboard – https://cloudup.com/cW1nPcYJlGx
c) Old WP Admin dashboard – https://cloudup.com/cn8DF2Y4N19blockquote>I followed your steps and got the Testimonials page back (although it will not move to above Blog as I have prompted it to do.)
I think part of the confusion here is that your menu is currently set to automatically add any new top-level page you create. I’d suggest turning off that option for now, and just add pages to your menu manually. I’ve circled the checkbox where you can turn that off in screenshot (a) showing the Customizer above.
A couple more things I see that could be causing confusion:
There are two separate Testimonials pages currently:
https://personallifecoachcoza.wordpress.com/testimonials/ – this one is at the top level and is the one linked from your menu
https://personallifecoachcoza.wordpress.com/about/testimonials/ – this one is a sub-page of About, but is not linked from your menu
I’d suggest you delete one of these two pages, and make sure the correct one is in your menu.
The Meet Clair page is currently set to be your front page.
What you’ve linked from your menu, though is, a different page that’s in the trash at the moment. I would suggest removing it from your menu entirely.
I hope this helps get things untangled a bit. Let me know how it goes, I’m here to help if you need more assistance.

Regarding the featured image: by removing “those”, do you mean removing the 2 pages?
I was using the Customizer.
I have tried to find which is the incorrect Testimonials page, but I don’t see the links you show.
I tried to get my about page back, but restored Welcome instead.
My concern is, that even if I rewrite a page that has gone missing, how can I stop that page, or another one, from going missing next.
Thanks -
Let’s look at the featured images first:
Regarding the featured image: by removing “those”, do you mean removing the 2 pages?
I was using the Customizer.Nope, I meant you need to remove the featured images from those two specific pages.
- Go to Pages
- Click the “About” page title to open the About page in the editor.
- Click the little ^ to open the Featured Image section
- Click the X to remove the featured image.
- Click “Update” to save changes
- Repeat steps for the Contact page.
Featured images are added or removed not done in the Customizer, but in the page editor for each page.
Here is a screenshot showing how to remove the featured image in the page editor:

I have tried to find which is the incorrect Testimonials page, but I don’t see the links you show.
What do you mean you don’t see the links? Can you explain exactly where you’re looking?
Which one of these pages is the correct one:
1. https://personallifecoachcoza.wordpress.com/testimonials/ – this one is at the top level and is the one linked from your menu
2. https://personallifecoachcoza.wordpress.com/about/testimonials/ – this one is a sub-page of About, but is not linked from your menu
-
Two more questions:
Could you please answer this question from earlier? It will help me understand what you’re looking at when you edit your menu:
Which menu editor are you using?
a) Customizer – https://cloudup.com/cpZgmYfrKN1
b) Main dashboard – https://cloudup.com/cW1nPcYJlGx
c) Old WP Admin dashboard – https://cloudup.com/cn8DF2Y4N19
Finally, when you look at your menu at the moment, let me know what the problem is, as it’s become a little bit unclear to me.
For example, perhaps :”The problem is that the Testimonials page linked from the menu – https://personallifecoachcoza.wordpress.com/testimonials/ – is not the one I want, I want the other Testimonials page at https://personallifecoachcoza.wordpress.com/about/testimonials/ linked there.”
Once I know exactly what you’d like to do and which menu you’re using, I can provide step-by-step instructions with screenshots on how to do it.
Thanks!

My concern is, that even if I rewrite a page that has gone missing, how can I stop that page, or another one, from going missing next.
When you say pages are “going missing” what do you mean exactly? Do you mean that a page you created is not showing up under Pages here:
https://wordpress.com/pages/personallifecoachcoza.wordpress.com
Or do you mean that a page you added to your menu is no longer in your menu?
Or something else?

Hi Kathryn
With your help I have been able to make the changes, and hopefully learned a few things in the process.
One last thing, please:
How can I make “contact me”and other similar phrases into links to my contact page?
Thanks,
Clair

That’s wonderful! Really glad to hear that things are coming along.
How can I make “contact me”and other similar phrases into links to my contact page?
Check out the guide to making links – it explains how to select some text and add a link to another page:
