setting up linked blogs under the same domain

We recently purchased a domain name (ungersail.com) in the hopes of having a blog for our family – in which each of us could have a separate page for blogging. I have discovered that this is not possible with wordpress and that the best option is to set up separate blogs for each person and have them all linked to the main blog through widgets. Can I set up these blogs under the same domain name or does each one have to have its own address? When I tried setting up a new blog under our current account/username, it seems that it was given a new domain name ((email visible only to moderators and staff)?) rather than our purchased domain name. The new blog is called “Stephanie (Mum)”. I want to go ahead and make more blogs for the remaining 3 members of our family, but I think I am doing it wrong. Can you check this out for me? How do I ensure all our blogs come under ungersail.com? Thanks for your help.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there!

This is pretty cool! So, have you looked into Category Pages? I think this would be perfect for you as this will allow you to have pages that show posts only for a certain Category. If you add this to your Custom Menu it will show up in your Menu bar.

So what you would do is have a category for each member of your family. Then when one person goes to make a post, he can check off his category. Once that category is checked and published, the post will show up on his page.

This would be the best/simplest way so all the information would be on one site in one account.

Take a look at the links for more information and let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, according to my understanding, the category option does not stop all posts by each blogger from showing up on the main page. This means that when people open our blog they will see all of our posts mixed up together, but have the option to click on a category and narrow it down to one family member’s post. We would like to have the main page have a general post and only show an individual family member’s posts to those who specifically select to see them.
I would like to set up individual blogs, and have them all use our purchased domain name. How do I set up numerous blogs under the same domain name?

Unfortunately, according to my understanding, the category option does not stop all posts by each blogger from showing up on the main page.

You just need to get rid of the main posts page. When you go to Settings > Reading in your Dashboard set your Front page to a static front page and don’t set anything as your Posts page.
