setting up masking for my domain and having trouble.

hello- i’m very new to owning domains, so i apologize in advance if my question is silly. i bought a domain name from wordpress, and now i want to mask it so that when you go to the domain URL, it doesnt automatically show the redirection to wordpress in the address bar. so i went through the online help tutorial, which told me to select my domain name and click “forward,” on the top tool bar. the problem is, my top toolbar doesn’t have a forward button. all it has is Organize, Locking, Content, and Nameservers. Does anyone know why this is and how I can fix it? I called the tech support number on the sidebar, but the guy there told me he didn’t know anything and I should go to google.com/support for help… which was UNhelpful.
    Thank you =)

So you bought the URL from wordpress.com in your admin? Have you tried adding the domain to your account under Admin => Options => Domains and add a blog?

yes, it’s added. i can manage the domain, but not set-up forwarding for it.

So, it is added as per the faq and you have the domain option to “put blog here”? That is my understanding of forwarding that you are talking about. Am I not understanding? Maybe a little more specifics.

After you click “Put blog here”, how long does it take before you start seeing your WordPress blog with your new domain in the address bar? I just did it, but it’s not happening, so I don’t know if it’s immediate or not. Thanks.

It can take up to 72 hours (not usually that long) as long as the domain has the name servers pointing to ns1.wordpress.com, ns2.wordpress.com and ns3.wordpress.com. I see that your wordpress.com account is already redirecting to http://crushliberalism.com/ so it is working. It can take a day or so to provage through all the internet name servers, but it is looking like it is working now.
