Setting up my domain
-
I’m trying to set up a domain with my name in it, but the only way of doing this is via an upgrade to premium. I know my friends have managed to set up a blog domain with their name via a free plan, is this possible?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

https://chitraraj.wordpress.com is no longer available.
The authors have deleted this site.Deleting a blog URL is not easily done and multiple warnings that deletion is intended to be permanent and non-reversible are given all along the way.
Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and the only exceptions are made are for URLs that were deleted 2 or more years ago. http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/
You can register another .wordpress.com blog http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/
Then if you wish to you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade because it does not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is when you are domain mapping.

Ideally I wanted to have a domain with my name, something similar to chitraraj.com. However I can only do this via a premium upgrade. Is there a way to do this via a free plan, because I know others have managed to do it…

I wanted to buy a domain but without a monthly fee. If I buy a domain from godaddy for example, is it possible to map it to wordpress for free?

No. You will require a premium upgrade to map to an existing domain. http://support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/
