Setting up new account and blog
-
I was setting up my site under the name Teachingtolearn.net and it was going fine. After I signed up and activated my account the site doesn’t sit on my account and I can choose that name anymore… What have I done wrong?

Hi there. http://www.teachingtolearn.net/ is showing as never before registered and for sale if I search it, so it would appear you’ve never owned that site. Did you actually buy it from a web registrar? You would have needed to provide payment information and detailed address and contact information. If that doesn’t sound familiar, then that domain was never yours.
If you want a site with WordPress.com you’ll first need to register a free WordPress.com blog: https://en.support.wordpress.com/create-a-blog/ If you already have one, please give the URL of that site.
Then, if you want to use it with the domain teachingtolearn.net, you’ll either have to buy the domain directly from WordPress.com, or buy it from another registrar and map it to your free WordPress.com blog: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/
If you rather want to have a self-hosted website, i.e. not a WordPress.com blog, you’ll need to find a web host you like and buy the domain and a hosting account from them. Then you need to download and install the WordPress.org software to that account and create your site there. For more help with that you’ll have to post in the WordPress.org support forums, as we can’t help you with self-hosted sites here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
