  Hi there. I am exploring moving from my WIX site to WordPress and have an existing domain that is mine. I want to create the new WordPress site first before moving my old domain over. Is this possible?

  Yes, you can create a free site here in the first instance with a subdomain ending in .wordpress.com or .home.blog or similar. To use your existing domain with that site would entail upgrading to a paid WordPress.com Personal plan or higher.
