  I want to set up a new site but I don’t want to transfer the domain over yet but it won’t let me start creating without going live.

  Hi there!

  You can use the free .wordpress.com subdomain while you’re working on your site and only transfer or map your custom domain once you’re ready.

  When you’re prompted to choose a domain, look for the free option and click on Skip purchase.
