  I would like to redo my website on Word Press, but I want to keep my current website active while I work on a new one. How can I do this?

  I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

  Why not build a free WordPress.com site here under the account you are posting from?

  Because I want to use my other domain for the new website and don’t want to create another one before I know if I can maintain my live website while I start creating the new one and then transfer the domain to the website I create when I want it to go live.

  Why not build a free WordPress.com site here under the account you are posting from?

  You can build a free site here with a random address and subdomain ending in .wordpress.com. If and when you are happy with it launch it and upgrade it to a Pro plan to transfer/connect your existing custom domain to that site.
