setting up new wordpress site

    Trying to set up new wordpress account. Asked for my domain name and I provided the domain of yvonnemenear.com. Word press changed it to yvonnemenearcom.wordpress.com. Don’t want this !! How do I edit it?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    No worries @ymenear

    First of all make sure the domain you are trying to enter is available or not.

    If it is available –
    Try with below steps:-
    1.Click on My sites-> Domains
    2. Click on change site address and check the domain you are trying to enter is available or not, it is available, click on change site address.

    You will be able to change your domain if that is available.

    Let me know if it works!

    In order to use a domain that you already own, you will need a paid upgrade in order to map your domain to a WordPress.com site. https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

    I’ve also tagged this for Staff assistance as you should be able to get direct support when you post in the contact form, but I note it has come to the forums. Thanks for your patience.

    There was a brief outage this morning in live chat support and I suspect that is how this posting made it’s way to us here in the forums.

    ymenear, that’s the free site address which you’ll need. The free site address connects your custom domain. Now, when you go to My Sites – Domains – Add
    you can add the custom one there.
