Setting up Oxygen theme

I am new to this free version of wordpress and wondering if there is anyone to help or a manual that is easy to use?
For example trying to set up the Featured slider theme which from what I read is it will slide the blog posts? I thought i knew what I was doing but no clue. Even on a page of a blog the featured image does not show?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

How many sticky posts have you placed in the slider? The maximum is 6. And did you set a featured image of the exact required dimensions in the post in question?
Featured Slider
The Showcase Page template offers a featured slider for up to six Sticky Posts that have a Featured Image at least 750 pixels wide. Keep in mind: if you mark a post as Sticky but the featured image is less than 750 pixels wide, then it won’t display in the slider and will still disappear from the river of posts.

Make sure you are clear on the differences between pages and posts https://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/ as the slider is for posts with featured images that are marked as sticky posts.

I have three posts i did for testing, but not sure how to make them sticky, so that maybe is my issue…thanks for your response…

You can mark a post as sticky by first navigating to its editor. From there, click on the gear icon in the upper left module and toggle the option to “Stick to the front page.”
