just starting my blog.( free One)
How can I change the size of the fonts in my posts and how can I get my site to look like others with Posts on left and sidebar with widgets etc
Perhaps I should cancel it and start again?

I don’t suppose you chose to use the step by step tutorial that Staff have linked to the bottom of your Admin page at http://learn.wordpress.com. It’s helpful and I do recommend using it.
How can I change the size of the fonts in my posts
These are 3 ways to change fonts on wordpress.com blogs.
(1) Changing font families, colors and size in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page by coding into the HTML editor.

But bit seems that the site I chose was big fonts only so now have changed theme to suit my normal sizes
