Setting Up Sections from Home Page
-
I’m new to the whole blog/design thing. I’ve worked through a few books and haven’t quite figured out how to tackle a design I have in my mind.
There may already be a thread on this – forgive me – but I’m not really certain what I’m asking (is it for a “magazine” theme? “Portfolios”? Using widgets for “Categories”_
I’m trying to create a site for all my vacation photos.
I’d like a static home page, with a button – ideally with a graphic – for each trip. Then, when you click on that button, it takes you to the blog posts for that trip.
So for example:
[I]g=https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9135919/Sample%20Homepage.png[/img]So if you wanted to see pictures and read my thinking about my cruise (“Trip 5”), you’d click on the ship and hit that blog. And so on.
Suggestions?
Thanks!

OK, here’s a little bit more… Perhaps this will generate some suggestions.
I’ve used the Edin theme. I like the way it lays out a grid along the bottom, it is exactly what I was looking for.
Trouble is, it sets it up as parent/child page relationships.
So the homepage is a Static Front Page, which I have set up as a parent.
Each trip is a Child Page.
Now, on each child page, I’d like to start the “blog” for that trip.
I presumed I would treat each trip as its own category, and then link from the child page to the category, but that’s not quite right (judging from all the comments on other help threads).
How can I set it up so when I click on “Mars”, I only see my blog posts about my trip to Mars?!?
Here is what I have set up so far:
bspokenet.wordpress.com
Thanks…!
