  I would like to set up a mock up site. I want to know if i can set up a site and change to the domain i own later on after i change up the site.

  Hi there,

  You can always use wordpress.com free plan which comes with a free domain (yoursitename.wordpress.com). You can build the site first with the free plan.
  & then upgrade it paid plan to use your oven domain.
