Setting up SMTP on localhost installation

  • Unknown's avatar

Running into an issue I can’t seem to figure out. Trying to set up SMTP on a localhost WordPress installation that is hosted on Yahoo Small Business. I’ve used the WP Mail SMTP plugin with my mail server settings and it fails to deliver a test email. Error messages are:

    ‘An issue was detected.

This means your test email was unable to be sent.

Typically this error is returned for one of the following reasons:

    – Plugin settings are incorrect (wrong SMTP settings, invalid Mailer configuration, etc).
    – Your web server is blocking the connection.
    – Your host is rejecting the connection.’

All of my settings for the email server are entered correctly.

I’ve used the Check Email plugin to check my settings which still shows this: SMTP server (Windows): localhost

Theme and all plugins are up to date, running the latest version of WordPress.

  • Hi there,

Looks like you’re in the wrong forum. It appears that you’re using the open source WordPress.org software and you need to seek help at these forums:
