setting up website with wordpress
-
hello,
I have a registered domain http://www.santulanbotanicals.com.
I originally create this 2 years ago with godaddy however I believe it is currenlty with Enom as that is Google’s partner and I have Google Suite.I would like to create a website for the domain via WordPress however I am not sure if I need to transfer the domain over to WordPress or Map the domain from Enom.
I don’t want the domain name to change ie – I don’t want ‘wordpress.com’ to be part of the URL.
Could you please advise the best course of action? I have never set up a website before so new to this.

Hi Michaela –
Yes :) This is a very common question. Go ahead and build your new site on WordPress.com. Import your content, customize the theme, get it all ready to launch.
Don’t worry about
wordpress.combeing in the free address. Once the domain gets connected no body will see that.Keeping the new site private will help prevent any SEO confusion since you’re going to have the same content on two different addresses.

There’s 2 ways to connect the domain. Either will work fine.
1. Mapping: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
2. Transfer: https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/Write back with more questions :)
