Setting up WP SMTP with g-mail
-
Good afternoon,
I am trying to set up WP SMTP to send e-mails once visitors have completed one of our WP Forms.
I’ve done all the steps per your guide at: https://wpforms.com/how-to-securely-send-wordpress-emails-using-gmail-smtp/
I’m at the verification portion after entering my credentials in WP SMTP; now I’m at Google’s vrerification page and I get an error saying my app ‘cannot be verified’.
Still on the verification page, when I click ‘additional details’ towards the lower-left, it prompts that the website can’t be verified. It also provides a link to our website, ie: ‘visit <>.com’. Clicking on this link, another Google pop-up appears. It asks me to give our website permission to read, modify and delete e-mail for my g-mail account. Hitting ‘consent’ and I am now back on our WordPress SMTP page with a confirmation that my g-mail has been successfully configured.
I recently sent a test e-mail from WP SMTP as well as a quick test using one of our WP forms and I received both e-mails as expected.
Hoping you can update your FAQ/help page to let others know about the above steps I had to take in order to verify WP SMTP to send g-mail, please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks and stay safe,
Eric

Hi Eric,
You are posting in the support forums for the hosting provider, WordPress.com.
We’re not the same thing as the open source WordPress software made by the community at WordPress.org, and neither WordPress.com nor WordPress.org have anything to do with the WP Forms plugin, which is made by a private company.
For questions about, or suggestions for, the instructions for that plugin, please contact them directly via the support option on their website. We have not control over how that plugins works, nor over the content appearing at wpforms.com.
