Setting up your own customized theme

    I can’t seem to find any information about the way of creating your own theme works.For example do you have to pay to create one for personal use and apply it on your website?There are a lot of tutorials on how to make it but none talk about if it costs or not.Please help me,thank you!

    Hey there! You can indeed make your own theme for just the cost of your hours and expertise. You’ll need to pay attention to security news and keep it up to date in case of any vulnerabilities discovered with your coding methods. I’d recommend keeping regular backups too. And, you would need hosting that supports custom code: basically you can run your own DIY copy of WordPress, or you can pay for managed hosting so someone else (us, hopefully!) can take care of maintenance, backups, security, etc. Just bear in mind, managed services would probably still not include custom updates for a custom theme; developer costs (or your time) would be separate.

    If you definitely want to code your own, check out some of the resources available at WordPress.org, particularly the Theme Handbook and the advanced forum.

    That said, newer themes are so customizable, you may only need to find something that’s close to what you want, then tailor it to your liking. That way you’d get updates, too.
