Setting up Zohomail: cant change MX registry

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello!

Since gmail won’t allow us to send email as another @domain address, I am trying to set up zoho accounts to which forward and from which send emails for my organization.

I am following these guidelines but when I get to the point where I am supposed to change the MX registry I get this message “This record cannot be added, as it conflicts with an existing WordPress.com record.”

    Help?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi Marie-Eve,

Sorry, I should have mentioned this earlier — it isn’t possible to have both email forwarding and other email service set up for your domain at the same time. (You can only have one or the other.)

Before you can finish setting up the MX records for your Zoho email, you’ll need to remove the email forwarding you have set up in your domain’s Email tab. Then you can delete the MX record that says “mail handled by WordPress.com email forwarding” and add the Zoho MX records.

Please let me know if I can do anything more to help with that. :)

Gotcha! it works wonderfully well now! Hooray for that!
(and wordpress might want to update their page about email services, as Zoho offers up to 10 addresses with their free package! Yay!

Hooray! I’m glad it’s working well for you now. :) I’ll go update that page about Zoho now — thanks for pointing that out!

I dont know if the question should be asked here or rather on Zoho’s forums, but I have a problem receiving emails that are sent from other addresses than the @domain addresses (ie work email, gmail, etc).

The error message I get is this one:

Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

(email visible only to moderators and staff)

    Technical details of permanent failure:
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the server for the recipient domain leadshepherd.org by smtp-fwd.wordpress.com. [66.155.8.100].

The error that the other server returned was:
554 5.7.1 <(email visible only to moderators and staff)>: Relay access denied

Any idea what I am doing wrong? All our previous tests worked fine, sending is not a problem. It is really just receiving from outside sources…

    Hi Marie-Eve,

I checked your domain, and it was just missing the MX records for Zoho. I added those in for you, so they should start working within the next few hours.

If you still have trouble receiving emails after that, please let me know!

    Thank you!! Thank you!!
I was getting a bit desperate, here, to be honest!

    Everything works fine for now!

Hi, I’m having a similar problem.
I keep getting the message “This record cannot be added, as it conflicts with an existing WordPress.com record.” Despite removing email forwarding. I’m also with zoho. Please Help!
