Settings disappeared from Dashboard
-
Hi, I have seen posts from others saying that they can’t see Settings in the Dashboard. I’ve seen those but I still don’t see Settings at all. Anyone any idea why this is? There’s nothing on the right hand side of the Dashboard and there’s nothing on the Left Hand side of the Dash either.
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks,
Jackson
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Are you an administrator on that blog?
What browser and browser version are you using?
Have you tried another browser?
Have you tried logging out of wordpress, clearing your browser cache and cookies, restarting the browser and then trying again?

I’ve just taken over the blog so, I’m not sure if I’m the administrator or not but I’ve been given access rights. So I get to see the Dashboard but without Settings. I can see Posts, Media, Links, Pages, Comments, Ratings, Polls, Profile and Tools.
I’m using Firefox 3.5.5
I’ve just logged in using IE 8. I don’t normally use this and this is new to me. I think this is a WordPress Issue…

If the blog owner did not set you up as an administrator then you will not have access to things like settings. See this support document on what the various user roles can and cannot do: http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/ .
While on that blog, go to users > authors and users and under “role” you can see what user level you have been assigned.

Thanks for that. I took a look at the various user roles. I can’t see ‘Users’ in the dashboard. I guess that this is the problem… I’ve contacted support…
thanks,
Jackson

It isn’t a support issue. You have to contact the blog owner and they have to decide if they want to make you an administrator or not. Support won’t decide that for the blog owner.
