‘Settings’ missing from sidebar of admin role user

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, I’m an inexperienced admin user (I have just double-checked and I AM listed as an administrator role in ‘Users’) and want to make a change to a brochure, which I previously updated a couple of years back successfully. However I’m now being denied permission with the message … You do not have sufficient permissions to access this admin page.
Reason: The ‘Settings → Real3D Flipbook’ menu item is explicitly disabled for the user ‘administrator’. , but when I go to look at these permissions in the settings tab, ‘Settings’ is missing . The last 2 on the dashboard list on the left are ‘Plugins’ & ‘Users’ Does anyone have any insight as to why I am missing settings (and ‘Tools’ by the way) case? Many thanks. John.

  • Hi there,

What is the URL of the site you’re working on? The WordPress.com account you’re using to post here is less than 24 hours old, and doesn’t own, nor is it a user on, any sites on WordPress.com.

You do not have sufficient permissions to access this admin page.

WordPress.com doesn’t include any setting referring to Flipbook, so that’s a setting added via a plugin. That points to you using the open source version of WordPress at another hosting provider. If that’s the case, you’ll need to contact another admin on the site for help, as we have no control at all over sites that aren’t hosted on our servers.

Going on how user roles in WordPress work, that would indicate you don’t have admin permissions – if you are listed as an admin under Users, it’s possible the site is using some kind of user management plugin that can further restrict access of specific users, over and above the restrictions built into WordPress itself. In that case, only the admin who set up that plugin (most likely the site owner) will be able to help you.

    Thank you SO much kokkieh.

Yes indeed you are correct that although the site-name is owned by me it was created by a third party developer, so your assumption about the management plugin is no doubt correct as and they have now granted me access and I can perform the action required.

    Once again, my sincere thanks
    John
