Settings: No choices for front page are in the dropdown.

In the front page selector, I have two choices:

    Your latest posts

    A static page

I want one of my blog posts to be the front page. But when I select “static page’, I don’t get a dropdown; I get these words which do nothing when clicked:

    Front page
    Posts page

A theme controls controls the front page customization I think. How can I disable that?

If you just tell me where the system stores the location and name of the current front page, I can edit it manually.

    thx,

Never mind; I found it in a SQL database called wp_options. Run MyAdmin (free server utility) and the tables will pop right up.

The field is called page_on_front and it’s value is the record number of the post you want to put. They can be found in the posts listing in dashboard.

You also have to set page_on_front to “page”.
